On March 24, a delegation led by Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), visited Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) to reflect on a century of global agricultural collaboration between the two sides and to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further strengthen cooperation.
In the morning, the delegation paid tribute to Zou Bingwen, a key pioneer of modern higher agricultural education in China.
At the university’s history museum, the FAO delegation toured the exhibition "Nanjing Agricultural University and FAO: A Century of Global Agricultural Cooperation" and learned about the university's history and development.
Qu Dongyu and NAU President Chen Fadi signed the MoU on behalf of FAO and the university. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in key areas, including improving food security and nutrition, combating poverty and hunger to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals, bolstering agricultural and food system transformation, strengthening South-South and Triangular Cooperation, and expanding internship and employment opportunities in international organizations for faculty and students.
During the exchange session, faculty and students from China and abroad engaged in in-depth discussions with FAO representatives, sharing insights from their respective fields of study and research.
